Research and Grants Support

The Foundation conducts regular research to assess the key local challenges and liaises with local and central government, key delivery agencies and other major philanthropic trusts in Auckland to ensure that it is fully appraised of community issues. We supplement this local knowledge with a firm commitment to programme evaluation that is informative without being so burdensome that it detracts from delivery.

Fundraising Support

The Foundation is a fundraiser as well as a grantmaker, and its staff and trustees have significant experience of raising significant funds for philanthropic purposes. They can provide advice to fund-holders on how to attract other potential funders to support their causes including prospect identification, proposal development and donor approach strategies.

Fund-holders within the Foundation become a ‘community of donors’ that can share information and in some cases come together to support projects of mutual interest.

Communications and Reporting

The Foundation is in regular contact with its donors. Donors receive regular communications and are invited to a range of functions and events.

Besides the regular contact and discussions with donors, the Foundation undertakes a formal donor feedback survey every two years.

Donor communications include:

  • Financial statements - two per year.
  • Annual Report.
  • Monthly transactions reports (if agreed by the Trustees)

Donor events include

  • Donor education workshops (for example, developing a grantmaking vision and mission, strategies for sub-fund intergenerational transfer).
  • Information forums (for example, MacroAuckland, or sessions in collaboration with other trusts and foundations on common interests).
  • Case studies of grants made or donor-initiatives.
  • Social and informal functions.
